Highlights from the September 25 Roundtable

  • by

Welcome to the Crawford County Food Alliance (CCFA) listserv! The Steering Committee met recently to review the highlights of the Roundtable and discuss other items of interest to the listserv members. We want share them with you.

First, the updated Food Resource Guide is now available online. We are working on a process that will make it easier and faster to update the information in the Guide. We’ll be happy to share that with you as soon as we have worked out any bugs. In the meantime, you can send updates to in…@crawfood.com, and they will be entered on the Food Resource Guide.

We learned at the Roundtable that it may be possible for agencies and organizations that wish to order food from Second Harvest to partner with each other so that the large volume required to order some types of food can be managed by two organizations but might be overwhelming for a single organization. We’ll follow up with Second Harvest to verify this.

Tim Geibel from CATA offered to work with organizations to find a way to get people to food or food to people if lack of transportation is a barrier to food access.

Armstrong has the capacity to broadcast educational programming related to nutrition and ways to prepare food.

The Community Engagement Impact Hub at Allegheny will soon be announcing the availability of small grants for community organizations that wish to partner with Allegheny students on specific projects that will have a positive impact on our community and will provide learning opportunities for students.

Our next regular Roundtable probably will not be scheduled until April or May. What do you think about holding a virtual Roundtable in February or March 2026? This may make it easier for people to connect during bad weather, especially for those who have to drive some distance to attend a Roundtable in Meadville. Given the uncertainty of federal and state funding for programs that affect food security, we thought it might be useful to share what you are experiencing and how you are dealing with it sooner rather than later. And please use the listserv as a communication and problem-solving tool at any time. So far, 18 individuals have joined the listserv.

Let’s keep the conversation going!
